Mo Baxley for Myself Concord 4/1/26 Good afternoon members of the Commerce and Consumer Affairs. My name is Mo Baxley from Granite State Independent Living. We are a statewide organization whose mission is to promote quality of life with independence for people with disabilities. I am testifying on SB480. This bill requires health insurance policies to provide coverage for adult prosthetics, including activity-specific prosthetic devices. Prosthetic limbs are essential for independence and enhancing quality of life after limb loss. Coverage for activity specific prosthetics enable people to regain their ability to live an active life and participate in sports and recreational activities. This results in better both physical and mental health. Engaging in activities foster social connections and reduced feelings of isolation often experienced after limb loss leading to better mental health outcomes. Having an active lifestyle leads to fewer medical expenses over the course of a lifetime reducing health issues due to obesity and cardiovascular diseases. This coverage promotes fairness in health insurance coverage allowing people with limb loss to reclaim their active life’s and pursue their goals. Thank you for your service to our state.
