What happened to separation of church and state!

Recognizing the tragedy of child gun deaths raises public awareness and promotes policies to prevent violence, advancing safety and equity for all children.

With firearm injury the leading cause of death in children and our young students performing lockdowns on a regular basis, children in the US have shouldered the responsibility of the keeping themselves safe from gun violence. This is a travesty. A resolution would remind us all that must do better for our children and the safe futures of our communities.

Absolutely NOT!!! I strongly believe in the separation of church and state! This is a crazy notion and should be immediately struck down. How embarrassing! Qualified teachers of all religions and no religion are welcome in our schools and there DEFINITELY should be no favoritism to a specific sect.

I support this bill to help recognize the impact of gun violence in our state.

Unfortunately I have a family member who was attendence at a California public school several years ago when a school shooting occured. My daughter's best friend was a student on campus at the University of West Virginia when the shooting rampage occured. He did not return the following semester. Our children young and old should feel safe when in their classroom, cafeteria, library or dorm room. Raising awareness of the toll school shootings take on students across the countr should be to supported.

As a former public school administrator, I am critically aware of the devastation of school shootings. Death by firearms is the leading cause of death in children and teens in the US. Over 4400 children die by firearms yearly. (everystat.org) With the 5-year average rate of gun deaths rising 22% in the US and 48% in New Hampshire in the last 25 years (kff.org), New Hampshire is not immune to the gun death epidemic plaguing our country and to the dangers posed to our children. Recognizing the victims and survivors of gun violence, especially our children, gives us the space to grieve, to remember and to inspire us all to take action to make our communities safe. Wear Orange originated on June 2, 2015. In January 2013, Hadiya Pendleton, who had performed at President Obama's inauguration, was tragically shot and killed at age 15. On what would have been Hadiya's 18th birthday, Hadiya's friends asked their classmates to commemorate her life by wearing orange, the color that hunters wear to keep them safe. The tradition has continued, with events being held across the nation over the first weekend in June, allowing communities to recognize and remember Hadiya and all victims of gun violence. It would be awesome to have such a memorial in New Hampshire. Please vote in support of this resolution.

Gun deaths are the leading cause of death for U.S. children and teens (ages 1-19), a crisis that is uniquely American among high-income nations. U.S. children are roughly 21 to 23 times more likely to be killed with guns than their peers in other developed nations. We are allowing a kind of national abuse of children to occur. The day of remembrance is to increase public awareness of this on going national trauma around gun deaths of children.

I strongly support HR46. Gun violence awareness, especially gun violence against children, is a blight on our 2-A loving country. The least we can do is recognize and remember these tragedies. What we should be doing is turning awareness into prevention. OTP please.

We should never forget the children who have died by gun violence.

Strongly support a state day of remembrance for all the children who have died as a result of gun violence! More needs to be done to protect them and dedicating a day may help to promote that premise! We should never be allowed to forget those horrific acts of violence against our most vulnerable! If enough states do this, perhaps we can have a national day of remembrance!

Let this resolution pass to honor the children killed by gun violence and to recognize the sorrow of their families and friends.

Establishing a day of remembrance for gun violence victims will help us all hold space for grief and can inspire us all to take some action to stay safe and help keep our communities safe and strong by reminding us to look out for one another. I respectfully ask you to support HR46.

This important Bill will declare the first Friday in June as a state day of remembrance for children killed by gun violence and urging the establishment of a national day of remembrance. There are more children being killed by gun violence than ever before.
