As a survivor of domestic villolece , I support this bill . And I mean survivor literally as my partner tried to kill me by choking me, attemted running me over with a car, holding a gun to my head and shooting at me from a second story window . This man was repeatedly trying to contact me last year and unfortunately lives near me so ive lived in fear and have to avoid going certain places in hopes of not running into him and had to change the times I grocery shop etc

This is absolutely necessary, but if the judge is just going to let domestic abusers who violate bail out on PR bail over and over while they continue to do crimes on bail and not show up for court this one step won’t help much, but it’s a start. See case # 447-2018-CR-01348 in Merrimack county for a good example of how an abuser who was on probation when he committed crimes, who then was arrested for drug possession on a college a campus, then later arrested for felon in possession of a weapon, who was never ever held for any violations of bail, was able to avoid consequences for violating an order of protection for years.

I support HB 1641 because it just makes sense. If someone on bail or probation has a protection order issued against them, the right people should know right away so everyone stays safe.

I strongly support HB 1641. Timely notification of domestic violence, stalking, and civil restraining orders to prosecutors and probation officers is essential for protecting victims and ensuring public safety. When someone on bail or probation commits another offense, rapid communication can prevent further harm and help law enforcement respond effectively. This is a commonsense measure that reinforces accountability and safeguards the community.
