HB 1622 seeks only three bits of information for each open or closed land fill: its name and address, the acreage of the tract, and its setback distance to the nearest home, airport, or water body (all of which might render a site unsuitable for expansion due to state or federal setback requirements. This bill will help find the best place to expand or if need be develop a new landfill.

The Bethlehem landfill is over capacity, and illegally has been accepting trash beyond the agreement with the town of Bethlehem and NCES. Mount Carberry has room for trash that Bethlehem can no longer take. We the town people have voted against expansion. The landfills leachate has escaped because of leaking liners that have never been addressed. PFA'S along with other toxins are entering the Ammonosuc River, poisoning the water shed. As a home owner and property tax payer in the town of Bethlehem for over 24 years and life long resident of NH, I ask that my voice be heard and may concerns validated.
