I support this bill. NH needs to figure out how to fund public education.

I support this bill. NH continues to inadequately fund public education and continues to ignore court rulings on the subject. Students in the poorer districts suffer and property owners are bearing the brunt of education costs. I believe a study of the matter is important and could help to find solutions.

Studying ways to increase funding is constructive, but must prioritize equity and public school investment over privatization schemes.

Since our present way of funding public education in NH is unconstitutional, we need to look at other possible revenue options.

This is a no-brainer! We are last in the country for state support for public education - we need more revenues to support public education. (The EFAs aren't helping by depleting the coffers by $100 million or more!) Strong public schools produce strong citizens who produce a strong economy and vibrant community. Quality education should not dependent upon zip code.

Both the courts and the public agree that the current funding for our schools is inadequate and has shifted the tax burden onto local property owners. I strongly support HB 1579 which will set up a committee to study how we can more equitably and adequately fund our public schools. Thank you for your consideration, John Walsh

Public education needs to be funded from more sources than property taxes. The state of NH needs to find a way to support the public education of all the children to insure an educated citizenry that can contribute to the health of this state. Many entities benefit from an educated citizenry, hence they need to contribute. Find a way!

Ever since the Claremont decision the legislature has struggled to meet the constitutional requirement to fund an adequate education. Looking for alternative sources to fund education sounds like a good idea.

I am supporting this bill for the benefit of NH voters.

We must come up with new ways to fund public education. We need an informed citizenry and our current funding program is untenable.

It's time to face the fact that the State of New Hampshire must increase funding for public schools and higher education. New Hampshire has forced property owners to foot the bill for too long. New Hampshire must find a way to increase state revenues to meet court-mandated contributions to public education. Support this bill.

Support public education so we can go forward as a nation that understands each other.

Funding public schools so heavily with property taxes leads us to shortchange poorer communities. It's my understanding that this has been ruled unconstitutional. Let's explore other funding options.

We have to work to follow the NH Supreme Court's orders sooner or later, you want it to be when we've destroyed our state?

Funding for public education in NH is completely inadequate (as also indicated by court rulings!). Our system is largely broken and our children and the valuable staff who support their education are negatively affected! As are the property tax payers in NH!!! It would seem to be a very reasonable approach to look for additional approaches. Seems as though this is a critical need - and I cannot imagine why any reasonable person would oppose this bill!

Please, stop cutting business taxes and bring the taxes that were cut back.

Lets look into more ways to support public education

The money drained from our tax rolls for EFAs is so massive that research into other possible funding sources is merely prudent.

Our current process for funding public education in NH has been consistently found to be unconstitutional. We need intelligent and good faith discussion on practical options.

NH needs better supports and systems for public education.
