Rick Miller for Myself NEWMARKET As one of the over 5,700 FCC-licensed amateur radio operators ("hams") in New Hampshire, I support this bill. Many states, including Massachusetts to our south and Vermont to our west have specialty plates to identify legitimately licensed amateur radio operators, providing a quick way not only a way for other operators to identify each other but also to allow emergency officials a way to help verify the status of people volunteering to enter and serve in emergency areas. It takes skill and work to earn an amateur radio license and many who have done so choose to display their license call sign on their car license plates, and while many people - including myself - choose to do so via the traditional "vanity" plate process, having a distinctive license plate would identify the purpose of the sequence of letters and numbers, and would help to generate public interest in joining the ranks of those who offer to provide free public service communications to support the needs of the state and our nation. | NEWMARKET | Support | 1,014 | Jan 13, 2026 | |
