Health and maintenance of our community tree canopies is also critical for health of our citizens and growth of our cities and towns. Thanks to all for sponsoring this.

I support this bill because the legislation recognizes the critical benefits provided by tree canopies, such as air and water filtration, stormwater management, and enhancement of property values and community health.

I support this bill that would authorize municipalities to adopt zoning ordinances related to the protection, management, or replacement of their town's tree canopy. Tree canopies are important for many good environmental reasons and should be encouraged and supported. This bill does not mandate developing these ordinances.

I support HB 1303 because allowing municipalities to adopt ordinances to protect and manage tree canopy helps address heat, flooding, and neighborhood livability. Thoughtful tree policies can coexist with needed housing and infrastructure while improving long-term community resilience.

I strongly urge you to support HB 1303. It is a voluntary measure that encourages communities to maintain their tree canopies. Given the economic and economic benefits of having a healthy tree canopy, the entire community will benefit from HB 1303. Thank you for your consideration, John Walsh
