HB 1`272: providing that each candidate's party affiliation be printed on the town or school district ballot. This is a bridge too far for me to even comprehend. NO, NO, NO.

Town elections should not be partisan. ITL please.

Thank you for the opportunity to testify. I respectfully oppose HB 1272. This bill would allow towns and school districts to add party affiliation to local ballots. Local offices function best when they remain focused on community needs rather than national political identities. Introducing party labels risks increasing polarization, discouraging independent or unaffiliated candidates, and shifting attention away from the practical responsibilities of school boards and town officials. New Hampshire’s non-partisan local elections help ensure that candidates are evaluated on their qualifications, service, and commitment to their communities—not their party registration. HB 1272 offers no clear benefit to voters and carries significant potential to undermine trust and collaboration in local governance.

Like HB1125 and HB1069, HB1272 should be voted ITL. The damage done to local municipalities would be significant. While nonpartisan local elections are not blind to candidates' intentions and associations, the commitment should be to their nonpartisan nature. Towns' issues are nuanced. Candidates and elected officials are working for the people and the future of a municipality, not a political party. Please ITL all of these bills. Keep NH's independent spirit and keep local public service local.

Town and school positions should not be party affiliated, the focus is on the town or school not on alignment with specific ideologies. Allow the public to ask these questions at a debate or meet and greet event if it feels important for a specific case. In most instances political party affiliation should have nothing to do with these roles.

Partisan politics should have no place in school districts. Decisions made about our local schools should consider the best interest of the students and residents, not the agenda of a national political party.

Keep school boards non-partisan!

Once again, this is another effort to inject partisan politics into public education.

Local issues are most important in school board elections. Don't let party labels get in the way of a sane GOP person getting elected.

This will encourage voters to think more about the party and less about the substance of the bill. Not a healthy choice.

I state my opinion for this bill for the benefit of all NH voters.

I oppose this bill. We need to keep local politics about people, not parties.

Candidate's party affiliation should not be on the school's ballot or printed on the town's ballot. Education is teaching history and the truth. Education is not a political argument and there should not be anything political in there. Teachers do not share their political affiliations and neither should the candidate. That divides our country even more!!!!!!!!!

Didn't we already kill this bill under a different name? WHY is this coming up again? And who does this serve? I oppose.

party affiliation has NO place in school board elections. this creates the potential for that to be a determining factor in their eligibility in some views. this also creates the potential that voters might be focused on national issues that do not having bearing on local school board functions.

I think it makes it much more likely that voters will vote based on nationalized priorities (like culture war issues), instead of based on the needs of their local schools, so I oppose this bill.
