Carbon sequestering is a responsible practice for the planet and our communities. There is no reason for our government, funded by taxpayers and made up of officials who live in our communities, to not participate in a program that helps keep the ecosystems we rely on to survive stable and healthy.

Are you people actually this stupid? Please give me a rational reason why anyone would block carbon sequestration projects during a time of runaway global warming. I oppose anti-reality, anti-science, pro-stupidity bill like HB 1205

I oppose this bill. We should not tie the hands of our state and local government in making decisions that serve the public interest as this bill would do.

HB 1205 prohibits state-owned and county-owned lands in New Hampshire from being enrolled in carbon sequestration programs, regardless of project type, scale, or public benefit. Key Intended Outcomes: Prevent public lands from participating in carbon credit or sequestration markets. Limit state and county involvement in climate-related land use programs. Preserve unrestricted public land use as defined by current governance norms. HB 1205 endangers vulnerable populations by categorically removing public lands from climate mitigation strategies without offering viable alternatives. While concerns about carbon market abuse are legitimate, the bill’s absolutist approach undermines trauma-informed, equity-centered, and future-oriented governance.

I oppose this bill because it prohibits carbon sequestration on county and city lands. Although carbon sequestration may not be appropriate on all such lands, it is up to the community to evaluate the benefits, suitability, and safety of carbon sequestration on their lands. When it is possible and safe to sequester the land, it can help mitigate and counteract the negative effects of carbon on the climate. Thank you for considering my input as you vote on this bill.

THIS RESTRICTION DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE FOR THE STATE WITH THE SECOND HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF FORESTED LAND IN OUR COUNTRY. THE SCIENCE OF CARBON SEQUESTRATION EFFECTIVENESS AND VALUE IS SOLID

Please oppose this bill. Carbon sequestration helps manage the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. This is a benefit to NH and to the whole globe! There is no valid reason to ban carbon sequestration on state and county owned lands.
