This bill protects potential buyers of real estate, and protects property values of real estate located in areas where knotweed is prolific.

Dear Honorable Chair and Committee Members, As a member of our town Conservation Commission fighting a Japanese Knotweed infestation, including collaborating with property owners who have damage from this invasive plant, I hope you consider the following: many property insurers do not cover damage caused by invasive plants, including foundation, well and septic system damage caused by invasive knotweed. This bill would protect potential buyers, especially those who complete a transaction during the winter months when it’s not possible to do a thorough inspection. It’s important to have this protection in place so that property values don’t decline in areas where knotweed is known to flourish. Respectfully, Rep. Janet Lucas Grafton County District 7

Ridiculous and a waste of time and money knotweed is invasive but so are so many other plants that never used to be here where would this stop once you banned one plant?
