This is a VERY BAD idea. We need more revenue in our state and not less. We need the BET and the tax on income and dividends to return. We need to find MORE ways to remove the heavy burden dumped on middle and lower income property tax payers. We can't be stymied by needing to reach a 2/3 majority to do anything productive.

This bill would impose minority rule. I am opposed to minority rule. We should be governed by majority votes.

Just like the US flag, the state flag, and the POW/MIA flag, the rainbow flag is a sign of unity and welcoming.

I oppose this bill because it does not expand rights, protections, or transparency for New Hampshire residents and may limit public accountability.

The motive behind this bill is to make it almost impossible to raise taxes to keep up with inflation or to take some of the burden away from property taxpayers. It has Free State/Liberty Alliance fingerprints all over it. Do not support this bill. Do not make it impossible for New Hampshire to fund our Schools, Colleges and Universities, our Safety officers, etc. etc.

This is a proposed constitutional amendment that would make it nearly impossible to raise any state taxes or impose any new state tax, by requiring a 2/3 vote in the House - which is a very high bar. This would make it nearly impossible to fund a budget that simply keeps up with inflation, much less trying to raise state revenues to take some of the burden off of property taxpayers.

This bill would permanently put the entire burden of supporting the state government on homeowners paying property taxes. As someone already concerned over how I'm going to pay property taxes on my family's farm after my parents retire, I feel that the weight of state infrastructure ought to be shared equally among all citizens and not fall only on folks like me.

Another attempt to stifle local control

This amendment would make it virtually impossible for the state to respond to any kind of fiscal challenge. It would also eliminate any possibility of transforming the unconscionably regressive tax system we have now into one that more fairly distributes the tax burden on Granite Staters of different income levels.

Higher Education should permit students to pursue areas of study that are intellectually challenging and interesting, whether they are remunerative or not.
