I OPPOSE this bill because it would impose statewide mandates over a town’s ability to already meet, discuss and decide if they would like to go in the direction of considering and adopting budget caps. Towns across the state rejected caps being imposed on local communities.

This bill would impose statewide mandates on how local communities govern. Caps take control away from the people.

This bill is another example of state government interference in local governing decisions without proper support or incentive. Many towns have already expressed their objections to this proposed legislation.

We've seen it in my town of Warner just like we've seen it all over the state: tax caps are too draconian, and people don't want them. However, rather than accepting this fact and finding more realistic statewide solutions to the property tax problem by raising revenue, this bill passes the buck down to local towns by making it easier for far-right extremists to implement tax caps that make it more difficult for town governments to make decisions. We've voted down two townwide tax caps and a school budget tax cap in Warner over the past two years, and I hope the House votes down this misguided bill too.

There should be no state mandates over a town's ability to consider and adopt budget caps.

This is government overreach, Municipalities should determine whether or not they want to have a tax cap.

I oppose this bill because it decreases the amount of control communities have over their own spending.

This is yet another bill that tries to limit local control, and I oppose it. This year, municipalities all over New Hampshire rejected tax caps similar to this. Instead, the state house is trying to give itself the power to impose them.

It is the town's responsibility to determine its budget - including budget caps - not the state's responsibility.

I will repeat myself: This should be a local decision. I thought the goal was for less government, not more?

I oppose mandates that set tax caps. Keep control local and let local communities decide on their budgets.

I oppose this bill, as a member and volunteer of a small town, I believe this is not the place for state mandates.

The bill might "enable" towns one year, but then trap them the next with the 2/3 vote required to adjust.

All towns voting on budget caps rejected them. It makes no sense for this bill to be passed--we are not a nanny state and we believe in local control.
