Nancy Biederman for Myself New Boston As a mother of a child with type one diabetic that was diagnosed 20 years ago, letting others know the often vague signs and symptoms of type one diabetes that proceed a child become deathly ill, can be life saving. From losing weight, increase in thirst, not recovering from an illness quickly, changes in eating and behavior swings can all point to type one diabetes. We were fortunate that we saw a doctor quickly, but other parents are not so lucky and their child is in a coma and placed in the ICU for days. Every day that a child with type diabetes goes undiagnosed, causes damage from their veins and arteries to all of their major organs. Damage that can not be fixed. During the COVID Pandemic there were clusters of new type one diabetics diagnosed. Parents were looking for information and this could be a good resource for them. Having information available for parents is always a good thing! | New Boston | Support | 914 | Apr 23, 2025
Gabrielle Healey for Myself Manchester Hello and Good morning councilmembers. I have read the text of SB102, and I support this bill. Increasing access to information to Type 1 diabetes is valuable and can help students and parents help their friends and loved ones receive support and care earlier. By providing these resources, children will be more likely to receive care before having an harmful event and will increase awareness about the condition to allow for understanding and develop compassion among peers. Thank you. | Manchester | Support | 493 | Apr 23, 2025
JANET Perkins-Howland for Myself DURHAM Thank you, Legislators. This bill was made known to me from the NH Medical Society. Our youngest daughter was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and it came out of the blue at age 21. Even though I am a doctor, I didn't recognize the symptoms soon enough and by the time she was diagnosed, she needed ICU care for several days. Unfortunately, this diagnosis, as well as other autoimmune conditions, are increasing in prevalence, and any increase in awareness and education, like this bill, is very much appreciated. Thank you! | DURHAM | Support | 535 | Apr 23, 2025
