Briane Pinkson for Myself Cornish We still have no known way to safely store nuclear waste. It seems a very crazy way to produce energy when there are so many safety risks involved with nuclear power. What is the plan for all the nuclear waste we currently have produced? and you want to produce even more? | Cornish | Oppose | 272 | Feb 11, 2025
Gordon Springate for Myself Wilton I clicked “oppose” only because I want someone to take my thoughts seriously. As someone with 2 Engineering degrees, I have views on this topic. I support the objective of this Bill. I oppose this Bill as written. Not that my support is necessary, but this can be significantly improved with a few changes. And I have some suggestions. 1) Remove all statements of “carbon-free energy”. No one should think we want nuclear for this reason. 2) I would not consider nuclear electricity generation as resilient (perhaps my definition is different?). 3) Sustainable in what way? A nuclear plant can have a life of 5 years or 100 year. So that is an “it depends”. 4) Elevate “diversification of energy sources” which by definition enhances energy security. 5) The statement on volatile global energy is fine, although I do not believe this will be an outcome. 6) Lines 23-26 could possibly be emphasized by moving these up the page? 7) Is there an opportunity to collaborate with other States on this topic? Seems if NRC receives even 10 of these this will help move things forward. Otherwise, good! I am not negative on the objective at all. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts. Good luck! | Wilton | Oppose | 1,222 | Feb 11, 2025
Patricia Anastasia for Myself Londonderry I grew up a few miles from the now decommissioned Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant. Nuclear energy is considered clean energy because it produces nearly zero carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gas emissions. Nuclear power plants take significant time to build and are costly to operate. Nuclear power plants have a relatively short lifespan, and nuclear waste disposal is a major concern due to its cost and long-term radioactivity.. Nuclear power is expensive and will divert resources from more cost-effective energy strategies. | Londonderry | Oppose | 526 | Feb 11, 2025
