I am writing to oppose this bill, HB647. If this bill is passed, newborn licenses would be priced in the same manner as every other age group. The 1-16 year old age group is over 400% more expensive than the current price for 0-1 year old licenses. Newborn licenses are a unique gift for new parents to help instill a love for New Hampshire’s treasured wilderness in future generations and should be protected.”

If this bill is passed, newborn licenses would be priced in the same as every other age group. Newborn licenses are meant to encourage the next generation to enjoy the outdoors and what it has to offer. Increasing the price will detur parents from buying these licenses for their children and they might never take up hunting and fishing because of it.

I oppose HB647, relative to the fee for a newborn hunting and fishing license. If passed, newborn licenses would be priced in the same manner as every other age group. The 1-16 year old age group is significantly more expensive than the price for a newborn license. This increase will negatively impact the lower income families in our great state of New Hampshire as the cost will become prohibitive for many. Good evening, I am writing to oppose HB647, relative to the fee for a newborn hunting and fishing license. The newborn license is a unique opportunity to allow the new parents of our state to affordably share a love and appreciation for our natural resources that we are blessed with in the state of New Hampshire. We have a culture of opposing new taxes, and raising fees like this is antithetical to our values. It should be of great importance to us to instill the value of our wildlife and lands in our youth, and making it more accessible for their parents to provide them with this lifetime license will help to achieve that. In an age where the cost of everything is rising at an unsustainable rate, we should not be making it more difficult for new families. Thank you, Sam Rafter
