Ignoring the UFO "kook" factor that this bill might prematurely suggest, I strongly believe that in light of the recent sightings of drone activities over New Jersey and Washington D.C., a commission to take public comments and input are needed. Current law allows drones to fly up to 500 feet, and under 400 feet in controlled airspace around airports. The Reeds Ferry Elementary School in Merrimack, NH, is directly in the landing zone of flights coming into Manchester Airport (MHT). Many incoming flights, especially during hot, summer days, may have commercial flights within the 500 - 1,000 feet range -- upon approach, under VFR (Visual Flight Rules), directly above the elementary school. See 49 USC 44809. There should be a reporting mechanism to state and local officials if drone operators are inappropriately operating within the flight path of incoming commercial aircraft. In short, a commission would be creating a public forum in which citizens could report inappropriate activities "within the skies and territory of the state of New Hampshire." And maybe the occasional UFO. Thank you.
